Jerry has BBA and MBA degrees from the University of North Texas, Jerry and his wife, Annette, are active members of the First Baptist Church in Wylie. They have two adult children, Amy and Jerry, Jr., and 4 grandchildren. He has been a Collin County resident for over 49 years

 

A Strong Record of County Involvement

 

Collin County actually has a lower tax rate today than it did in 1994. Jerry Hoagland has voted against excessive spending budgets six times during this same period of time. He has voted against excessive spending more than any current member of the Commissioners Court

 

A member of the Collin County Commissioners Court since 1980, his emphasis has been on long-range planning and transportation issues. Jerry has supported well over $4 billion in road improve-ments, including the President George Bush Toll Road and the Sam Rayburn Toll Road

 

Chairman of the Steering Committee (1984-85) to create Collin College, an institution that has and will continue to enrich the lives of thousands of Collin County citizens

 

Chairman of the Steering Committee to create the Collin County Adventure Camp for children

 

Championed the efforts to bring Pizza Hut Park to Frisco

 

He provided leadership for the adoption of the Unitary Road System which consolidated the use of manpower and machinery, with a resulting increase in work force productivity and a cost savings for all Collin County taxpayers

 

Chairman of the Steering Committee for several Capital Improvements Programs

 

Supported modern Jail Facility (including Minimum Security) and Juvenile Detention Center

 

Rural addressing for Emergency Services

 

Supported Domestic Abuse and White Collar Crime Units in the District Attorney’s Office

 

Supports a 10 year plan to asphalt all county roads in Collin County

 

Supports creating a recycling program for rural residents

 

Will continue the partnership with cities for both road expansion and park preservation, including the construction of hike and bike trails between cities in Collin County
